The Fall Transition Protocol

A bespoke facial for barrier repair and seasonal renewal

Seasonal practitioner protocol  ·  Three rituals  ·  60–75 minutes per treatment

As summer gives way to cooler, drier air, most clients arrive presenting one of three patterns: a barrier still recovering from heat and sun exposure, congestion left behind by months of sweat and SPF, or a fresh reactivity brought on by swinging indoor–outdoor temperatures.

This protocol gives you three treatment rituals built entirely from the Wilder North core line and Apothecary backbar, so you can read the skin in front of you and choose the sequence that actually fits — rather than running one facial for every client who walks in this season.

Each ritual follows the same rhythm — cleanse, cleanse again, mist, custom Apothecary mask, serum, seal — so it stays easy to hold in your hands chairside.

Reading the season

A lens before you choose

The season changes the presentation more than the client's baseline does.

Use the same hot / cold / damp / dry lens from the Herbalism in Skin Care energetics work. Early fall skin most often reads as dry and depleted, damp and congested, or hot and reactive — sometimes a blend of two.

Let the visual and tactile read guide your ritual choice over anything the client tells you about her normal skin type.

Ritual A

Barrier-stressed and dehydrated

Ritual A

Tight, flaky patches; fine dehydration lines; skin still mildly sun-sensitized from summer UV load.

  1. First cleanse — Primrose Wildbiome Cleansing Oil. Massage over dry skin to dissolve residual sunscreen and surface oil buildup without stripping the barrier.
  2. Second cleanse — Atone Milky Cleansing Balm. A gentle, barrier-conscious second pass to fully clear the skin while keeping it comfortable.
  3. Mist — Boreala Alleviating Mist. A calming pass to prep and hydrate skin before treatment.
  4. Apothecary backbar mask — Manuka Honey Bee Propolis Nectar Base and Colloidal Oat Base, amplified with Moisture Amplifying Honey Elixir, Hydrating Extract Gel, and Fortify Oil Elixir, activated with Enfleurage Nourishing Mist. Apply using the honey-tapping technique to stimulate circulation and support the barrier.
  5. Serum — Sativa Nourishing Serum. A barrier-focused finish to reinforce what the mask just repaired.
  6. Seal — Astera Balm. A richer occlusive layer to hold moisture in as the air outside turns drier.
Mask build Manuka Honey Bee Propolis Nectar Base · Colloidal Oat Base · Moisture Amplifying Honey Elixir · Hydrating Extract Gel · Fortify Oil Elixir · Enfleurage Nourishing Mist to activate. Keep the ratio honey-forward — this ritual is about repair, not extraction.
Retail tie-in Send this client home with the three-step Ritual A take-home set — Atone Milky Cleansing Balm, Boreala Alleviating Mist, and Sativa Nourishing Serum — to extend the barrier work between visits.

Ritual B

Congested and dull

Ritual B

Clogged pores, uneven texture, dull tone from months of sweat, SPF, and pollution buildup.

  1. First cleanse — Primrose Wildbiome Cleansing Oil. Dissolves the season's buildup at the surface before any active treatment begins.
  2. Second cleanse — Melina Enzymatic Cleanser. A gentle enzymatic polish to lift dulling debris and refine texture.
  3. Mist — Verbena Vibrancy Mist. A brightening pass to prep skin and support circulation before masking.
  4. Apothecary backbar mask — Blue Cambrian Tansy Base, amplified with Exfoliating Enzyme Extract Gel and Brightening Powder, activated with Cucumber Hydrosol and finished with a touch of Dandelion Oil. Clears congestion without over-stripping the barrier.
  5. Serum — Thorn Day Serum or Peony Brightening Serum. Thorn Day for an adaptogenic daytime finish; Peony where tone and dullness are the bigger concern.
  6. Seal — Resin Balm. Locks in the treatment while keeping the finish light enough for congestion-prone skin.
Mask build Blue Cambrian Tansy Base · Exfoliating Enzyme Extract Gel · Brightening Powder · Cucumber Hydrosol to activate · Dandelion Oil to finish. Watch timing closely on reactive-congested skin — pull earlier if flushing appears.
Retail tie-in Send this client home with the three-step Ritual B take-home set — Melina Enzymatic Cleanser, Verbena Vibrancy Mist, and Peony Brightening Serum — to keep texture refining between visits.

Ritual C

Reactive and sensitized

Ritual C

Flushing, reactivity, and irritation brought on by early-fall temperature swings between indoor heat and outdoor chill.

  1. First cleanse — EO-Free Primrose Wildbiome Cleansing Oil. A soft, low-friction first pass — no scrubbing, no heat.
  2. Second cleanse — Ethereal Cleanser. The gentlest second-cleanse option in the line, suited to reactive skin.
  3. Mist — Boreala Alleviating Mist. A calming pass to settle the skin before any further contact.
  4. Apothecary backbar mask — Colloidal Oat Base, amplified with Calming Chamomile Honey Elixir, Respite Oil Elixir, and Soothing Herbals Powder, activated with Cucumber Hydrosol. Keep the build minimal — this ritual calls for restraint, not intensity.
  5. Serum — Astera Sensitive Serum. Formulated for exactly this presentation; apply with a light hand.
  6. Seal — Nectar Manuka Honey Balm. A soothing, occlusive finish to protect skin as it leaves the treatment room.
Mask build Colloidal Oat Base · Calming Chamomile Honey Elixir · Respite Oil Elixir · Soothing Herbals Powder · Cucumber Hydrosol to activate. Skip clays entirely on this ritual.
Retail tie-in Send this client home with the three-step Ritual C take-home set — Ethereal Cleanser, Cucumber Hydrosol, and Astera Sensitive Serum — to keep the barrier calm through the transition.

Quick reference

Choosing a base chairside

Every mask above builds from one powdered or honey base, layered with a honey elixir, oil elixir, extract gel, or powder to amplify it, and finished with a hydrosol to activate and thin to a workable texture.

Apply with the honey-tapping technique wherever a honey base or elixir is in play.
