A Guided Introduction for Licensed Estheticians
This kit was built so you can experience the Apothecary Backbar first-hand — the scent, the texture, and the way each mask behaves on skin — before committing to a wholesale opening order. Each mask arrives full-size, with enough ingredient to craft an estimated minimum of 40 treatments, so there is real room to test, adjust, and see how each formula performs across a range of clients.
The two protocols below walk you through building and applying each mask, what to expect from it in the treatment room, and how to capture what you notice — so that by the time you're ready to apply for wholesale, you already know these formulas the way your clients will come to.
Both masks draw on the same Apothecary Backbar system — whole, unrefined bases built up with enhancement powders, extracts, and a finishing mist — but each is suited to a different presentation. Use this as your starting lens, then let what you feel under your hands guide the final call.
Dry | Mature | Dull
Reach for this mask when skin is asking for richness — moisture-starved, showing fine lines, or lacking radiance.
Congested | Inflamed | Puffy
Reach for this mask when skin is reactive or overloaded — breakouts, visible redness, or puffiness and congestion.
| Meadow Honey Base | 250 ml |
| Coconut Colloidal Oat Base | 500 ml |
| Double Rose Enhancement Powder | 100 ml |
| Antioxidant Berry Enhancement Powder | 100 ml |
| Hydration Extract Gel | 100 ml |
| Enfleurage Mist | 200 ml |
| Meadow Honey Base (base) | 1 tsp |
| Coconut Colloidal Oat Base (2nd base) | ½ tsp |
| Hydration Extract Gel | 1–2 pumps |
| Double Rose Powder | ½ tsp |
| Antioxidant Berry Powder | ¼ tsp |

Ratios follow the Apothecary Handbook's Rules of Thumb and individual ingredient monographs, in build order (base, extract gel, amplifying powders, hydrosol last). A starting point — adjust for the client in front of you.
Expect a honeyed, warm floral scent from the rose and honey base, a soft cream-to-rose color, and a rich, slightly tacky texture that softens as it warms on skin.
Every ingredient in this mask is on the Handbook's Pregnancy-Safe list. Screen for oat/coconut, rose, and berry allergies before use.
Handbook guidance is a general 10–15 minute dwell for treatment masks; lean toward the fuller end for very dry or mature skin.

| Frankincense Oleoresin Oil | a few drops |
| Frankincense Hydrosol, added last | to consistency |
Ratios follow the Apothecary Handbook's Rules of Thumb and individual ingredient monographs, in build order (base, extract gel, amplifying powders, hydrosol last). A starting point — adjust for the client in front of you.
A resinous, warm frankincense scent over a mineral clay base; grey-green in color with a cooling, mattifying feel as it sits on skin.
Not on the Pregnancy-Safe list — the Soothing Herbal Powder is not recommended for pregnant or nursing clients (Comfrey). Screen for honey/bee allergy; follow the Exfoliating Extract with SPF, and use it cautiously on darker skin tones.
Handbook guidance is a general 10–15 minute dwell for treatment masks; lean toward the shorter end here, since clay and exfoliating enzymes can over-work reactive or inflamed skin.
Every ingredient in the kit comes with its own detail card — use this table as a fast, side-by-side reference while you're building and testing.

As you test each mask, jot down what you notice — scent on application versus on skin, how the texture handled, dwell time that felt right, and how skin looked and felt on removal. These notes are yours to keep, and they're exactly what most partners find useful when deciding which Apothecary items to lead with once they're building their own backbar. For reference, the Handbook estimates $3–$4 in ingredient cost per treatment mask once you're blending at your own studio scale.
If these two masks feel like something you'd want on your own treatment menu, your test kit purchase carries forward: when you're approved as a wholesale partner, the ratios and results you've gathered here become the starting point for your own protocols — not a fresh start.
We built this kit so you could sit with these formulas the way your clients will — slowly, and with your hands. Take your time with both masks before you decide. We're here for whatever questions come up along the way.
